FCC votes to begin testing an overhaul of US phone system | Mobile - CNET News

My guess is once everything is digitized than spying becomes even easier.  Why does there have to be something wrong with copper analog networks?  They work fine so what advantage is there to change the system?  Digitizing only increases the amount of data that must flow over the network and what about availability during power outages?  Or as some have said is this a backdoor to deregulation of common carrier status?

Pump prices fell in Jan. as drivers stayed home - The York Daily Record

There's no reason for any increase in natural gas prices; there's so much availability their burning it off at incredible rates in the Balkens and elsewhere because there's no infrastructure to bring it to market.  So they've "fracked" it and now have no where to go with it.
